NEWSBREAK 💥💥: BCMCH Inaugurates Epilepsy Monitoring Unit & Sleep Lab

The Department of Neurology at Believers Church Medical College Hospital (BCMCH) celebrated a significant milestone with the inauguration of the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and Sleep Lab on the third floor of the hospital. This cutting-edge facility aims to provide comprehensive care for epilepsy and sleep disorders, further enhancing BCMCH's reputation for excellence in medical services.

A Day of Pride and Achievement

Dr. John K. John, a leading neurologist at BCMCH, shared his joy at the rapid advancements made by the department. "We are thrilled with the strides we’ve taken across all areas of neurology. This new unit represents another step forward in diagnosing, monitoring, and treating complex neurological conditions," said Dr. John, highlighting the department's commitment to enhancing healthcare.

Dr. Harikrishnan, an expert in epilepsy management, explained the facilities available in the new unit. The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit is equipped with advanced diagnostic technology, including continuous video EEG monitoring, which allows for precise diagnosis and personalized treatment plans for epilepsy patients.

He also described the new Sleep Lab, which will offer comprehensive assessments for sleep disorders using the latest monitoring equipment. The lab will help diagnose conditions like insomnia, sleep apnea, and other disorders that affect patients' quality of life, providing a vital service to the community.

Advanced Care for Epilepsy and Sleep Disorders

The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at BCMCH provides specialized care for patients with epilepsy, offering continuous observation and monitoring to better understand seizure types and plan effective treatments, including surgical interventions when necessary. The integration of technology and expertise ensures patients receive top-tier care tailored to their specific needs.

The Sleep Lab is equally significant, designed to diagnose a wide range of sleep disorders. Through overnight polysomnography and other tools, the lab will evaluate patients and provide accurate diagnoses, leading to more effective treatments for issues such as obstructive sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome.

BCMCH’s Ongoing Commitment to Excellence

John, Dr. Harikrishnan, and their team have worked diligently to bring the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and Sleep Lab to life, reaffirming the hospital’s mission to push the boundaries of patient care.
