Mr. & Mrs. Mulumba: A Story of Compassionate Care

Mr. Jean Pierre Mulumba, a retired pastor, and his wife Mushiya Mimi Mulumba, traveled from the Republic of Congo to BCMCH for medical care. Mr. Mulumba had been suffering from pancreatitis, and his wife had developed high fever. The Mulumbas arrived at BCMCH on a Friday afternoon. They were greeted by the IPR team, who helped them get settled in their room. Dr. Geomcy and the MS Office staff also provided assistance. Mr. Niyas in operations and the nurses in 6th PVT B took excellent care of the Mulumbas, including buying them new clothes and ensuring that all their needs were met. On Saturday morning, Mr. Mulumba was seen by Dr. Deepak Johnson, a gastroenterologist at BCMCH. Dr. Johnson diagnosed Mr. Mulumba with cirrhosis liver and gallstones, which were the cause of his pancreatitis. He underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy by Dr. Sujith and team GI surgery.
