Case 1: Resolution of SVC Syndrome with Central Venous Angioplasty In the first case, a 63-year-old male with CKD stage 5 on dialysis through Permcath experienced features of SVC syndrome. Following Central Venous Angioplasty performed by the Interventional Radiology team, the patient exhibited significant improvement in symptoms, demonstrating the effectiveness of the procedure. Special thanks were extended to the nephrology, CTVS, and anesthesia teams for their invaluable support.




Case 2: Successful Non-Surgical Treatment for Thyroid Nodule The second case involved a 41-year-old female with a solitary benign nodule of the thyroid seeking an alternative to surgical intervention. Dr. Tom George and his team performed a groundbreaking combined microwave and alcohol ablation treatment for the thyroid nodule, marking a significant milestone at BCMCH. The patient underwent the procedure under local anesthesia and was discharged within hours, without any scars or pain.
