Title: "BCMCH's Comprehensive World Heart Day Campaign 2023: A Week Devoted to Cardiac Health Awareness"

Introduction:

World Heart Day, an international campaign to promote heart health awareness, took on special significance at Believers Hospital this year. With the theme "USE HEART, KNOW HEART," the hospital undertook a week-long campaign to educate and engage the public on various aspects of cardiac health. This detailed blog article delves into the diverse activities organized at Believers Hospital during World Heart Day week, focusing on each day's unique programs and their impact.

Day 1: Signs and Symptoms of Cardiovascular Disease The inaugural day of the campaign aimed at educating the public about the signs and symptoms of cardiovascular diseases, with a special focus on acute coronary syndrome. The audience participated in a skit, followed by an informative session where Dr. Mitty George, an interventional cardiologist, addressed queries and concerns from the attendees.

Day 2: Interventions for Acute Coronary Syndrome The second day emphasized interventions for acute coronary syndrome, particularly highlighting angioplasty and its post-care measures. The significance of adopting a healthy lifestyle to prevent future complications was stressed. Nurse Manager, Mrs. Jancy Joseph, played a pivotal role in clarifying doubts and providing additional insights.

Day 3: Surgical Management of Myocardial Infarction On the third day, the focus shifted to creating awareness about the surgical management of myocardial infarction. A skit depicted the pre and post-operative journey of a patient undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Dr. Benson Abraham, a cardiac anesthesiologist, provided health education on CABG and addressed queries from the audience.

World Heart Day: Flash Mob Dance and Congenital Heart Disease Awareness On September 29th, 2023, Believers Hospital organized a vibrant flash mob dance in a public space to capture attention and create awareness. A skit on congenital heart disease followed, emphasizing the importance of antenatal detection and delivering in a center with cardiac care for complex cases. Public awareness regarding the government program "HRIDYAM" for congenital heart disease was shared, and Pediatric Cardiologist Dr. R Suresh Kumar engaged in an interactive session, answering queries in detail.

Conclusion: A Successful Week of Heart Health Advocacy The week-long campaign at Believers Hospital proved to be a resounding success, with active participation from the public. The interactive sessions, skits, and informative talks by medical professionals contributed to increased awareness about cardiac health. The quiz competition further engaged the audience, highlighting the positive impact of the program in educating and empowering individuals to prioritize their heart health. As we reflect on the events of World Heart Day 2023, Believers Hospital remains committed to ongoing efforts in promoting heart health awareness in the community.
