BCMCH & Kerala Excise Department: A Joint Venture for Health & Wellness

In a groundbreaking initiative, Believers Church Medical College Hospital (BCMCH) has partnered with the Kerala Excise Department to promote health and wellness among excise staff through a three-phase Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening program.

This joint venture underscores the commitment of both institutions to preventive healthcare, ensuring that excise personnel—who work tirelessly to maintain law and order—receive timely health screenings, expert consultations, and lifestyle guidance.

The Three-Phase Program: A Step Towards Better Health

🔹 Phase 1: Laboratory Screening for NCDs

  • Conducted at Alleppey and Mavelikara two weeks ago.
  • Focused on early detection of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and metabolic disorders.

🔹 Phase 2: Medical Camp (Completed Successfully Today! 🎉)

  • Personalized medical consultations based on test results.
  • Specialists from General Medicine, Orthopaedics, and Community Medicine provided expert advice.
  • 105 excise staff members actively participated.
  • Inaugurated by Mr. Ashok Kumar (Assistant Commissioner, Excise).
  • Introductory address by Mr. Avira Chacko.
  • Health awareness session by Dr. Sangeetha Jithin (Assistant Director, BCMCH) on leading a healthy lifestyle.

🔹 Phase 3: Health Literacy Session (Planned for the 3rd week of April 📅)

  • Educational workshops focusing on lifestyle modification.
  • Practical strategies for disease prevention, stress management, and overall well-being.

A Model Partnership for Public Health

The Kerala Excise Department played a crucial role in organizing, promoting, and facilitating this initiative. They provided:
Venue & logistical support
Promotion & registration of participants

BCMCH, with its expert medical team and healthcare resources, ensured that the program delivered high-quality screenings, consultations, and awareness sessions.

Impact & The Road Ahead

This initiative is more than just a medical camp—it’s a movement towards preventive healthcare in law enforcement agencies. By prioritizing the health of excise staff, we are enabling them to serve the community more effectively while safeguarding their own well-being.

With Phase 3 on the horizon, BCMCH remains committed to promoting long-term health awareness and disease prevention strategies.

👏 Kudos to all the organizers, doctors, and participants for making this a success! 🎉
