  Successful POEM Procedures at BCMCH on Doctors' Day 2024 In an exciting development on Doctors' Day 2024, the Department of Gastroenterology and CeAGE at BCMCH, under the expert leadership of Dr. Deepak Johnson, has achieved a significant milestone by successfully performing two Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) procedures. This cutting-edge intervention is a testament to our relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation in medical care. What is POEM? Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) is an advanced third space endoscopic technique primarily used to treat esophageal motility disorders, such as achalasia. This minimally invasive procedure involves creating a tunnel within the esophageal wall to access and cut the muscles causing the motility issue, thereby alleviating symptoms like difficulty swallowing and regurgitation. The Significance of This Achievement The successful execution of these POEM procedures marks a major advancement for BCMCH and its Department of Gastroen
