Title: Enhancing Campus Safety: Code Red Mock Drill at Believers Church Medical College

Introduction: Believers Church Medical College recently conducted a Code Red mock drill, a critical component of its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its students, faculty, and staff. The drill, held on 15.02.2024, was meticulously organized and executed to simulate a real-life fire emergency within the college premises.

Training Session Overview: Ms. Elsa Alexander led a comprehensive training session in the college foyer at 4:30 PM, attended by representatives from different batches of students, as well as faculties and non-teaching staff. The session focused on the RACE (Rescue, Alert, Contain, Extinguish) and PASS (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep) protocols, essential for handling fire emergencies effectively.

Practical Demonstrations: Participants received hands-on training, including demonstrations on the proper use of fire extinguishers. Emphasis was placed on the safe transfer of immobile faculty and staff during emergencies. The significance of quick and decisive action in ensuring the safety of all individuals on campus was underscored. Additionally, the fire assembly point was communicated to all participants.

Simulated Fire Incident: On the following day, 16.02.2024, a simulated fire incident unfolded on the first-floor corridors adjacent to Lecture Hall 1. The automatic activation of fire sensors triggered the Code Red announcement over the PA system, simulating a real emergency.

Swift Response: In response to the alarm, the college's security team demonstrated exemplary efficiency by swiftly reaching the scene. They promptly applied the Dry powder extinguisher safety protocol, successfully extinguishing the simulated fire. Meanwhile, students and faculty were evacuated from classrooms and gathered at the designated fire assembly point, showcasing the importance of organized and swift evacuation procedures.

Medical Assistance and Support: As part of the mock drill, an ambulance arrived at the scene to simulate the provision of medical assistance and support. This aspect of the drill emphasized the college's commitment to addressing potential medical needs that may arise during emergencies.

Conclusion: The Code Red mock drill at Believers Church Medical College served as a valuable opportunity for participants to gain practical experience and reinforce the importance of preparedness and quick action during fire emergencies. By conducting such drills, the college demonstrates its dedication to creating a safe and secure environment for everyone on campus. The knowledge and skills acquired during this exercise will undoubtedly contribute to the overall readiness of the college community in the face of unforeseen emergencies.
